Groundfloor
Coming in, you first enter directly the kitchen/dining room which forms with the sitting room a very spacious open plan living space. This was in the past the traditional "vivoir", common in Languedoc region, i.e. the room where the family used to live and share the meals. The 60 cm thick stone walls keep the ambient temperature very pleasant all the year around.
You immediately feel the authentic South French atmosphere: the soft light almond green and yellow colours enhance the sunny touch and match perfectly with the ceiling beams and the exposed stone walls. The two open fireplaces on the left and on the right, different in shape, add to the very particular charm of the ground floor. Many a guest retains a nostalgia for the long winter evenings spent sipping a glass of local wine with a good book and listening to the crackling of the fire.
The round dining table and the Henri II carved leather chairs are placed in front of the bigger fireplace on the right of the dining room which is slightly separated from the sitting room by an antique walnut 4 door sideboard with shelves and drawers which contain the many plates, bowls, cups, glasses, cutlery etc.
The kitchen is modern fitted with a glass ceramic cooking table, an oven with grill function, an extraction hood and a coffee machine. Adjacent to the kitchen at the back is an utility room with a large refrigerator, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a microwave oven, a toaster, an iron/ironboard as well as many pots and pans, cooking utensils and plenty of storage room.
The sitting room is furnished with three typical fireside armchairs and a "radassier" - a kind of bench - typical pieces of country furniture with woven rush seats. In the sitting room, we keep for our guests a very large choice of guidebooks, walking guides and regional magazines about the Corbières, Narbonne and the Languedoc - as far as available not only in French but in English and German too. A few good cooking books with authentic regional recipes are also waiting for those interested in the culinary traditions of the region. We also compile a documentation in English and in German about the Corbières region - sightseeing, wines, cultural events - which we update regularly and put at your disposal during your stay.
